Magma Hotel is a small and intimate hotel located in one of the most beautiful regions of south Iceland, close to Kirkjubæjarklaustur. The view from the hotel is unique--a lake rich with birdlife, moss covered lava fields, a black sand glacial river, as well as volcanoes and Vatnajökull glacier looming in the distance. It’s also the perfect place to catch a glimpse of the majestic northern lights in winter.
Fosshotel Mývatn is a serene and picturesque accommodation option, boasting 92 rooms nestled in the breathtaking scenery of Lake Mývatn, the fourth largest lake in Iceland. It serves as an excellent spot for visitors keen on discovering the wonders of North Iceland. Attractions nearby include the soothing Mývatn Nature Baths, the Námafjall geothermal field, and the striking lava formations at Dimmuborgir.
Where local history meets contemporary style
The1900's building was once a department store owned by Consul Thomsen’s family. Today, we feature contemporary Icelandic design, a sauna and whirlpool, and exposed original stone walls. It is located next to the locally loved Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur, the famous hot dogs. The hotel is within walking distance of day-tour bus stops and Harpa Concert Hall.
Culinary Delights
Enrich your journey with a gastronomic journey that’s as unforgettable as Iceland’s landscapes.
Magma Restaurant
At Magma, chef Ryuya Ono has developed his own culinary language: a refined cuisine where each product has its place, without superfluous decoration, firmly rooted in French techniques and a Japanese commitment to ingredient quality.
Salt Cafe and Bistro Restaurant
At Salt, the emphasis is on a family-friendly, light and fun atmosphere and a varied menu where everyone should be able to find something to their liking.
Drangar restaurant
Drangar Restaurant opened during the Summer of 2018 along with the Hotel.
Putting emphasis on the constantly changing conditions while living here in Iceland, where nothing much grows outside, but the waves, we pride ourselves on carefully selecting only the highest quality seasonal ingredients.
Iceland: Don´t just know it exists. Go there, explore there.
